Lantern Dancer carries several pieces by Navajo Jewelry Maker Tommy Singer. Tommy Singer was born in Arizona in a small community on the Navajo Reservation. His father was a silversmith and he taught his son the skills to carry on this traditional Navajo art form. In the 1960s , Thomas Singer became famous for inventing and perfecting the use of turquoise and coral chips in inlaid silverwork. This method of design is referred to as "chip-inlay." So successful was this technique that many Navajo craftsmen have copied the method. One can easily recognize Singers’s work because he finishes each piece with his mark: either "T. Singer"or "T and a crescent moon." and "Thomas Singer." Whether Singer creates a bolo tie, buckle, ring, or bracelet, each piece is one-of-a-kind. "All my jewelry is made to satisfy my customers. I strive to make each piece unique,” Singer says.
